H & M TRUCKING
H & M Trucking Co. was purchased in 1974 by Ron and Susan Savage from Hawkins and McClintique from Greenview, IL, and is currently situated on 56 acres just outside the city limits of Clinton, IL. The company has 15 full-time employees, 5 independent owner/operators, and several part-time employees. Several years ago, H & M Trucking Co. changed the focus of services from hauling feed and feed ingredients in hopper trailers to hauling liquid and dry edible products, such as liquid corn syrup, chocolate, vegetable oils, dry dextrose, soy flour, soy grits, soy flakes, and sugars. These commodities require specialized equipment and delicate handling. H & M is dedicated to providing transportation services solely for the edible liquid and edible dry-bulk industry. The company is known throughout the food-grade industry as having spotlessly clean, immaculately maintained equipment, and is highly respected tank carrier with a reputation of high quality, on-time service. H & M's insulated, stainless steel tank equipment is used exclusively for hauling kosher edible liquids Tankers with in-transit heat are used to transport certain liquid products during winter months to ensure product stability and easy unloading. Pressurized tanker systems are also used to aid product unloading, and blowers are used to unload dry-bulk products. The company terminal was built in 1984 and has an office, garage, cleaning bay, and a separate tractor storage building. There is a large lot for semi-truck and trailer parking. The terminal is equipped with a one-bay kosher wash rack for food-grade tank cleaning only. Company tank and trailer interiors are cleaned between every load, while exteriors are washed several times each week. Strict company practices are followed in the tank cleaning process. Special cleaning equipment is used exclusively for cleaning after hauling specific products. H & M Trucking company is very particular about the appearance of their trucks and trailers and the image projected to shippers, customers, and the general public. Having their own wash rack allows H & M Trucking Co complete control over cleaning operations, giving customers complete assurance against cross-contamination of their products. The terminal location provides easy access to all Midwest food-grade manufacturing firms, and is close to major Interstates, allowing H & M to provide year-round, coast-to-coast transportation services for customers.
