At Hope Veterinary Specialists, we provide 24-hour emergency and critical care 7 days a week, along with a variety of board certified specialists to help your pet with all of his or her healthcare needs. From anesthesiology to cardiology, dermatology to internal medicine, neurology to radiology, and surgery to oncology, we have the skilled doctors and experienced nurses you need to put your mind at ease-and your pets in the best possible hands. If you are unsure whether your pet has an emergency, please do not hesitate to call and speak to a member of our team. You know your pet better than anyone, and if you believe he or she is sick, hurt, or in distress, you could be right. Types of emergency situations include the following; should your pet exhibit or experience any of these, he or she should be seen right away: Animal attacks Bleeding Collapse episodes Difficulty breathing Difficulty urinating Hit-by-car incidents Ingestion of medications, poisons, or objects Seizure Severe diarrhea Unresponsiveness Vomiting Whether you come to Hope VS on your own or whether you have been referred to us by your primary veterinarian, we will work in conjunction with your primary veterinarian to provide your pet the best possible care. Through phone consultations and periodic updates, we will gain a better overall view and more thorough health history of your pet. Your veterinarian will receive daily emails and faxes with information such as when your pet arrived, tests we ran, and results we found. When your pet is discharged, your veterinarian will be made of aware of this too; along with receiving a complete written report. Depending on your pet's requirements and individual healthcare needs, you may be asked to follow-up with your primary veterinarian or our hospital. If you do decide to come in to the ER at Hope VS, if at all possible, please give us a call first; this way, we will be ready and waiting for you. While the triage process will remain the same, should your situation be critical, we will be even more ready to jump into action-supplies will be out, equipment will be ready, doctors will be standing by. When you call, please have the following information ready: name of your pet, age, spay/neuter status, breed, problem, duration of problem, and how long until you arrive.
