Houghton-Portage Township Schools

We have a rich heritage of demanding academics and enriching cultural programs. The student population of the Houghton-Portage Township School District is 1,373. Kindergartners through fifth graders attend Houghton Elementary School with an enrollment of 619. The Houghton Middle School and High School are located in the same building. The middle school includes grades sixth through eighth with an enrollment of 343, while the population of the high school is 411 students. The average graduation rate is 99 % with the average daily attendance rate at 95%. The district attracts approximately 35% of its population through the MI School of Choice option. The District employs over 100 staff members that include secretarial staff, maintenance staff, kitchen staff, paraprofessionals, teachers and administrators.
