The primary mission of the Highland Park Department of Public Safety is to provide a safe and secure environment for the residents and visitors of Highland Park through department programs, community policing efforts, and efficient professional fire and EMS operations. This goal will only be accomplished through a mutually cooperative relationship between the Department of Public Safety and the community we serve. By working together, we can maintain the peace, provide safety and security for our citizens, and reduce crime and the fear of crime. The Department of Public Safety will seek to understand and confront the underlying problems which lead to most calls for service. Through problem solving and Community Policing, we will seek to significantly improve the quality of life of our citizens, and enhance the experience of visitors to Highland Park. To be successful in our mission, we require the commitment of the administration, every DPS member, and the citizens of the community, all working together to maintain the Highland Park DPS as a trusted source for assistance. All DPS employees will make every contact with the community a positive one, a contact which places us a step closer to a partnership with every resident they meet.
