At Icarus, we computer cut 100% of our canopies with a CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacture) system. We use no patterns or templates and program each order individually into our computer system to customize colors, size and options. Our manufacturing plants in Europe and New Zealand computer cut canopies using the latest CAD/CAM technology. The computer cutter - marks, labels, then cuts and seals each panel at a tolerance of +/-0.2mm, as well as calculating and generating line lengths. We focus a lot of energy indesigning and testing. We are the only sport canopy manufacturer to use wind tunnel optimization in our design process resulting in superior control range, superior openings, and superior performance.
