The IÖW

The Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) is a leading scientific institute in the field of practice-oriented sustainability research. Around 65 employees develop strategies and approaches for sustainable economic activity - for an economy that enables a good life and preserves the natural basis. The digital transformation and its sustainable realization are central research areas of the institute (www.ioew.de/en/digital-transformation). Together with research partners and practitioners, the IÖW investigates the potentials and risks of digitalization and develops framework options and governance instruments for a sustainability-oriented digital policy agenda. The institute works on a non-profit basis and without basic public funding. It is a member of the Ecological Research Network (Ecornet), the network of non-university, non-profit environmental and sustainability research institutes in Germany.
