Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group
The Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group is committed to commissioning high quality, sustainable and integrated services. We recognise that we play an important role in influencing the direction of Island health and social care services and must ensure they are resilient to changing times and climate. We are committed to ensuring that every pound spent is used to give Islanders the very best health outcomes. Through effective commissioning we can add value to the Island economy, environment and its people. The CCG shares the vision for a sustainable healthcare system which protects and improves health within environmental and social resources now and for future generations. On a national level in 2014 the NHS Sustainable Development Unit published the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Health, Public Health and Social Care System 2014-2020. As a contribution to this strategy, all CCGs and NHS Trusts are encouraged to hold a Board approved Sustainable Development Management Plan (SDMP), which is a performance indicator under the national Public Health Outcomes Framework. This year, in collaboration with the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, we developed a joint Sustainable Development Management Plan titled Greener Care, which has been approved by our Governing Body. The plan sets out our ambitions for reducing our environmental impacts and ensuring that sustainability principles are embedded throughout our organisation and the services that we commission.
