Ithaca JATC
The electrical training ALLIANCE (previously called NJATC), provides instructional material and guidance for local JATC affiliates. It was created over 70 years ago as a joint training program between the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and is aimed at training the best electrical workers in the industry. Today, the electrical training ALLIANCE has developed into the largest apprenticeship and training program of its kind, having trained over 350,000 apprentices to journeyman status through local affiliate programs. The electrical training ALLIANCE has developed uniform standards that are adopted and used nationwide by local programs to select and train thousands of men and women each year. The electrical training ALLIANCE partnership with NECA and the IBEW is a model education program which produces the best-trained, most up-to-date electrical apprentices and journeymen in the country. The majority of the $100 million annually spent is privately funded. Our apprenticeship programs are highly specialized, and feature an "earn-as-you-learn" approach. Apprenticeship classes are conducted at night to allow apprentices to work in the field during the day. In both classroom and on-the-job situations, the apprentices receive their training from highly qualified professionals. Apprentices also earn a good wage and are afforded attractive benefits like health insurance, pensions, annuity plans, college credits and more [ click here to view wages and other hourly compensation rates]. Upon graduation, they will be highly trained professionals with a very rewarding career and a bright future. What is an Apprenticeship? back to top
