Harbor Creek High School

The Harbor Creek School District continues to be one of the highest performing districts in our county and in the state of Pennsylvania. We are extremely proud of our student's academic, musical and athletic accomplishments as we continue to see progress on many levels. The teachers and administrators are highly qualified committed professionals who work with your students throughout the year preparing them for a challenging world. Our dedicated teachers and staff work on many committees and work groups to improve the quality of education for all students. We are working to build partnerships with businesses, universities, and local industries, increasing our ability to provide real world experiences for our students. The Harborcreek community is very fortunate to have a school district that is supported by so many committed parents, staff and community members. We welcome and encourage input and involvement that is so essential to student success. The District will post an annual report in October of each year. Beginning in October of 2010 financial and budget related information was part of our annual report card. Funding and the economic strength of the District have a significant impact on our ability to continue to provide high quality educational experiences to your students. The Harbor Creek School District's total current operating budget is about 27 million dollars. Of that total, 50% is made up from local revenue, 48% from state payments and 2% from the federal government. Almost 92% of the total budget is allocated to pay fixed expenditures that include salary and benefits, loan payments, utilities and the purchase of required services. Due to the foresight and commitment from the Board, the Harbor Creek School District is well positioned to meet future financial challenges and uncertainties. The District has made progress in managing revenues and expenditures it has control over. Factors the District does not have control over, or has limited control over, present the most concern. Despite the Board's strong plan for the future, there will be budgetary challenges that all districts in the state of Pennsylvania are facing as we developed the 2011-2012 budget. It is the commitment of every teacher, administrator and support staff to continue to provide a world class education to your student. Please extend a special thank you to our School Board members when you see them in the community. This is a group of people who give many hours of their time to help ensure that our students have all that they need to be successful. I want to thank the Harborcreek community for your strong support of our schools and if you have any questions or suggestions please contact your school or my office. Have a great start to the school year, and I look to seeing you all at one of our district events and school activities.
