many women cannot have children except through the use of donor eggs. this can be due to surgery, chemotherapy, age, or genetic conditions. we aim to allow these patients to have genetic children for the first time, using a process which starts with a simple skin biopsy. our approach directly activates the skin cell’s existing dna to transform it into a new, healthy egg cell. this avoids the challenges with traditional approaches to producing eggs and sperm in vitro. our goal is to give women confidence in their ability to choose whether and when to have a child—and in the long term, ensure that every person and couple has the choice to have genetic children, including same-sex couples.
