Island Waste Management
The Island Waste Management Corporation was created May 29, 1999, constituted pursuant to section 18 of the Environmental Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. E-9. The general powers of the Corporation shall be as set out in section 16 of the Interpretation Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap I-8. The Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC) is a provincial Crown Corporation that administers and provides solid waste management services throughout Prince Edward Island. Our mandate is to deliver a cost effective and environmentally responsible provincial waste management system to both the residential and commercial sectors of PEI. Waste Watch is a 3- stream source separation mandatory program that was implemented Island-wide in 2002.
