Jac. Vandenberg has maintained a strong commitment to food safety that goes above and beyond the requirements of the industry. This has been a standard practice for Jac. Vandenberg for the past fifty years. We are a member of a Working Group of the PMA-led Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI), which seeks to enhance the level of product traceability. We assist and work with each of our suppliers to ensure full compliance with the PTI standards. We request third party certificates from all our suppliers ensuring that they meet international standards for good agricultural practices (GAPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs). Suppliers must also have a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) based Food Safety Program in place, which are audited annually by an approved independent third party. These certifications establish guidelines to ensure clean and safe working environments for all employees while minimizing the potential for contamination of food products. We require that all of our suppliers are in compliance with all applicable regulations in effect with the United States, Canada, and any other country where the fruit is sold and or produced including the U.S. Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, U.S. Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011 and all regulations promulgated under these acts. We require that all of our suppliers are registered with the U.S. Food And Drug Administration, in accordance with the Bioterrorism Act of 2002. We require all of our suppliers to produce and pack fruit in compliance with the rules and regulations in effect in the United States, Canada and any other country where the fruit is sold and/or produced that prohibit human trafficking or slavery, and that they provide third-party verification audits thereof. We request that all companies involved in the food supply chain are members of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), which helps to ensure a more secure and expeditious supply chain.
