J.C. Smith Inc was founded by John C. Smith Jr. in June of 1976. John started his company with the help of his wife, Josephine, and his three sisters, Vivian, Georgiana and Elaine. How would you like to start a company with four women involved and being the only male?! John has a great reputation in the construction industry as he worked for over 20 years for a local construction supply company. Throughout the years the company has grown to become one of the largest independently owned construction supply houses in Upstate New York. Currently the company is in its second generation with over 50% of the company owned by Josephine C. Smith. J.C. Smith Inc has locations in four cities across Upstate New York. The Ithaca branch is run by long time manager Robert (Bob) Wilson - the Albany branch is where Tony Martin is in control and the Rochester branch where Matt Dombrowski is at the helm. The Syracuse location is the company's main headquarters where Lance Reed is the store manager and married to Joanne, who is a partner in the company. Jeffrey C. Smith is vice-president of the company and oversees branch stores and sales throughout the company. Jeff has been with the company since day one. Jay Smith is secretary of the company and oversees customer accounts and purchasing the 240,000 items it carries. J.C. Smith Inc. has over 60 employees and many being with the company for 15 years plus. J.C. Smith Inc is a certified WBE of the State of New York and specializes in construction supplies, light equipment and rentals for the construction industries.
