J. D. Barnes
J.D. Barnes Limited was established in 1960 and since that time has become a leader in Canada's surveying, mapping and land information services industry. The firm was founded by John Duncan Barnes, an industrious and entrepreneurial surveyor. During the company's formative years, it specialized in legal and engineering surveys which were provided mainly to utility companies, land developers, government organizations and private individuals. The firm expanded its services in 1972 with the establishment of a photogrammetric mapping operation and again in 1974 with the acquisition of ProConsul Limited, a computer application service company. J.D. Barnes Limited has been in the forefront of technology in the Canadian surveying and mapping industry. Our Company was one of the first in North America to utilize automated plotting systems, electronic total stations, computer-aided drafting systems, penbase computers, GPS and microcomputers. The firm has maintained a technological awareness to this date and continues to provide integrated solutions to our clients. The firm presently employs a highly experienced team comprised of professional surveyors, engineers, technologists and technicians, systems analysts and programmers as well as support staff. These staff combine technology with their experience to create solutions that are both cost-effective and technically sound. In the final analysis, it is our people who make the difference through their varied disciplines, their initiatives and above all their enthusiasm.
