Jersey Alzheimer's Association
Jersey Alzheimer's Association was formed in April 2010 following a breakaway from the national Alzheimer's Society in the UK who intended to bring Jersey under the jurisdiction of Hampshire. However, we continue to offer the same services and support for people in Jersey that we have done for over 20 years, the only difference is that we are now a local charity run BY local people FOR local people. We are registered with the Jersey Financial Services Commission, the Income Tax Department and the Association of Jersey Charities (AJC) No 359. We are also full members of Alzheimer Europe. Jersey Alzheimer's Association provides help and support to local people with dementia and their families in a number of ways as detailed on the following pages. Our aims are to campaign for people with dementia to stay in their own homes for as long as possible with improved home care support; to promote Person Centred Practice in all areas of care and to ensure that people with dementia are treated with dignity and respect; to campaign on their behalf to improve current services, and support them and their families in order that their quality of life is maintained to the highest degree possible.
