Jersey College

A. As a private, post-secondary institution, Jersey College strives to provide its students with an education that will help them thrive in the field of nursing. The core of the program focuses on the skills and knowledge of a Certified Nurse Assistant and provides potential nurses the opportunity to become a License Practical Nurse or continue on to become a Registered Nurse. Our mission is to bridge the labor gap that has been observed in fields such as nursing and to prepare professionals that will be skilled and ready to join the job forces. Q. How is Jersey College licensed? A. Jersey College is nationally accredited by The Council on Occupational Education ("COE") and the Florida campuses are licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Our Practical Nursing program is also approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. Q. What is the Jacksonville campus like? A. The Jacksonville campus is located in Duval County on the Southside in the Baymeadows area. The facility is approximately ten miles from downtown Jacksonville. The campus is conveniently located off of Interstate 95 on Baymeadows. The facility offers educational opportunities for residents in Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau County in Florida. Our facility occupies more than 11,000 square feet of classroom, lab, learning center and office space. Q. What is the policy for transferring credits from other institutions to Jersey College or transferring to other institutions? A.Transfer to Other Institutions: The institution that would be accepting the credits must make the decision about how many (if any) credits would be accepted. They are usually reviewed on a case by case basis. Jersey College is accredited for the nursing program however our accreditation may be different from other four year colleges and universities that provide baccalaureate degrees and higher. Therefore any students who may want to continue their education after Jersey College should research the options for higher education and what credit could be obtained for their work in the Practical Nursing program. The responsibility to find this information is with the student. Transfer from Other Institutions: If an applicant wishes to transfer credits into the Practical Nursing Program, the Dean of that program (or equivalent position) will evaluate the request based on the following criteria: when the course was completed, the grade received, and the institution transferring the credit. If the coursework is accepted, the student must then complete a challenge exam in that subject and get a score of 80% or better. A maximum of one course transfer may be accepted towards the completion of the Practical Nursing program.
