JKS INDUSTRIES
JKS strengthens its business through bonds in the community. In 2013, JKS had the unique opportunity to participate as the protégé in the Small Business Enterprise and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SBE/DBE) Mentor/Protégé Program with the RTD FasTracks project. JKS Industries and their mentor Gilmore Construction are the first two black-owned businesses to participate in this trailblazing program where Colorado government agencies are engaging with SBE and DBE businesses. JKS Industries also actively supports important Colorado SBE, DBE, and MBE initiatives to shape the business community through their memberships to key organizations like the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC), Colorado Conference of Minority Transportation (COMTO), and the Rocky Mountain MSDC. JKS owner Jeffrey Knight is also the co-chair of the Black Construction Group (BCG) a special interest group of the CBCC and on the 2015 board of directors for the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC). Jeffrey Knight was also selected to participate in the Denver Office of Economic Development's DSBO Mentor Protégé' Program. Subsequently, he is now on the DSBO AC/DIA Subcommittee for the City and County of Denver's Construction Empowerment Initiative (CEI). These community partnerships are part of the reason JKS continues to thrive towards building a sustainable business.
