At first it seems like the typical story of a German start-up, founded at the turn of the last century. In 1918 Carl Kaefer, a Bremen businessman, had the idea of cladding the walls of ships' cold stores with peat. His aim was to improve what we today call "energy efficiency". It soon turned out that this was a popular and lucrative idea, which spread rapidly all over the world; evolving into a great success story. During the course of over nine decades, KAEFER has turned itself from an insulation business for the shipbuilding industry with just one office, into an international company with more than 2,000 sites worldwide. With its wide-reaching presence, KAEFER successfully focuses on one clear objective: to eliminate the energy waste by offering the most professional complete insulation solutions worldwide. Industry KAEFER develops tailor-made solutions to energy efficiency problems in all industrial environments and any type or size of facility. We apply our skills to new facilities, extensions, refurbishments, large-scale projects and maintenance work. The portfolio ranges from engineering and design, to material procurement and installation. Marine & Offshore KAEFER has a long shipbuilding tradition dating back more than 90 years, in addition to over 30 years of offshore experience. Our close partnerships with shipyards, ship owners and the oil and gas industry enable us to provide innovative technology as well as specially developed systems and products. Construction The service portfolio of the Construction division covers a broad range, from the complete interior finishing of both old and new buildings and the restoration of facades to the removal of hazardous substances and tunnel fire protection. We offer our clients the entire construction process chain, from planning, project management and execution to completion of the building work.
