KAM Plastics Corp. was established in 1994 by Paul Kalkman and Cleon Morgan. The business was started with two primary product lines: Class 6, 7, 8 truck mirrors and injection molding with three 50-ton molding machines. KAM has grown to a three-shift operation with facilities in West Michigan and one in Mexico. The locations allow the company to provide product for the Automotive, Heavy Truck, Furniture, RV, Health Care and Consumer Products industries. It has numbers of molding machines ranging from 8 to 800 tons. The company is focused on the production of low-cost, high-quality injection-molded, insert molded and assembled components utilizing over 250 different types of plastics. Its core competencies include insert molding (decorative appliqués and mechanical), two shot molding, molded colors and chrome plating. KAM also has expertise in various types of secondary operations such as assembly, paint, chrome, flocking, sonic welding, heat-staking and tape application. It also have strategic relationships for additional expertise in design, dimensional layout and rapid prototype. In June of 2004 KAM became an employee-owned company or ESOP.
