The uniqueness of the plant owned by PT KDL is able to serve the load fluctuations needed by factories in the Krakatau Industrial Estate. PT KDL's biggest electricity consumer is the national steel manufacturing plant, PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. In addition, all Krakatau Steel Group industries and business facilities, as well as general consumers in the Krakatau Industrial Estate, which consists of various groups, ranging from households, hotels to industrial groups, become electricity users produced by PT KDL. PT KDL's Electricity generation used Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) 120 MW technology or commonly known as Steam Gas Power Plant which consists of two gas turbine generators, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators and one Steam Turbine Generator. The main fuel of PT KDL's CCPP is Natural Gas. PT KDL guarantees the quality of electrical energy produced according to industry standards. For this reason, PT KDL created a compensator system to maintain voltage stability. In addition to providing electricity supply, PT KDL also serves the needs of customers relating to various electrical problems and is divided into three main segments namely services related to the operation and maintenance of power plants; Electrical Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC); and Workshop Services. Along with the development of business activities in energy sector, PT KDL expanding its business area by serving the downstream natural gas distribution. This is in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia No.AHU-08709.AH.01.02 of 2008 which states that PT KDL can carry out business activities by establishing and operating power plants and their electricity networks, fuel oil installations, gas fuel installations ( BBG) as well as storage, distribution of fuel trading and BBG.
