Keating Chambers

This means that assistance is available for disputes of every type and size. Our barristers specialise in providing their services across the areas of construction and engineering; energy and natural resources; infrastructure and utilities; international arbitration; IT and technology; offshore construction and marine engineering; planning and environment; procurement and competition; and associated professional negligence. We regularly appear in the various divisions of the High Court - but especially in the Technology & Construction Court and the Commercial Court - and also the Court of Appeal, the Privy Council and the United Kingdom's Supreme Court. Our expertise in alternative dispute resolution covers UK and international arbitration, adjudication (statutory and contractual), mediation, dispute review boards and expert determination. Chambers' excellent reputation for advocacy is matched equally by our reputation for drafting and advisory services, at all levels. Our barristers provide advisory services on all the internationally recognised forms of contract including FIDIC, NEC, IChemE, JCT, SAJ and AWES. They also have extensive experience with PPP, PFI, and partnering and alliancing contracts. Individuals at Keating Chambers are frequently appointed as arbitrators, adjudicators, experts (in the context of expert determination), mediators and legal assessors, and an impressive number of the senior barristers also sit in the UK Courts as Deputy High Court Judges in divisions such as the Technology and Construction Court, Crown and County Courts. Keating Chambers' expertise extends across the globe. Our barristers have advised and acted in a wide variety of projects in most countries around the world. In some cases, members of Chambers have been admitted to the Bar, in an overseas jurisdiction, in order to appear in front of the Court there. This experience brings with it a familiarity of both procedural and substantive law in numerous jurisdictions, together with a keen ability to work closely with lawyers and clients with diverse backgrounds. A number of members of chambers have working knowledge of other languages including Arabic, French, German, Italian, Persian, Russian, Spanish and Yoruba. Individuals at Keating Chambers are recognised as leaders at the Bar in international arbitration and other forms of international dispute resolution, both as counsel and arbitrators. Large scale construction and infrastructure projects, energy and power plants and shipbuilding are key areas of international work. Our reputation in respect of overseas work is reflected in the breadth of international clients and projects in which we have been involved. Members of Keating Chambers also act as experts on English law in overseas jurisdiction. Some members also have rights of audience in other jurisdictions (such as Hong Kong SAR, New Zealand, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) where they represent clients in litigation through the local Courts. Senior members are often appointed as arbitrators by many of the world's leading appointing bodies such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and other overseas centres including Dubai (DIAC), Hong Kong (HKIAC), Malaysia (KLRAC) and Singapore (SIAC). They are also appointed directly by parties to arbitrations under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. Keating Chambers won the title "Construction Set of the Year" at the annual Chambers & Partners Bar Awards eight times in the last decade, most recently in October 2018. Looking after clients is a vital part of this process and the clerks' team is there to provide guidance on the barrister/s best suited to the nature and scale of the case and to maintain responsive contact throughout.
