Kewaskum High School
Kewaskum continues to improve its reputation as we strive for academic excellence and quality extracurricular programs. Additionally, we have traditionally been known for our positive and healthy relationships between staff and students. We take seriously that you entrust the young people of this community to our care and expect our outstanding staff to give their best day in and day out. We are committed to this profession because we deeply believe every child deserves a comprehensive, world-class education, graduating highly prepared for whatever path they choose. This continues to be our philosophy: to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment, providing every student with a sense of belonging while helping students to grow academically, emotionally and socially. We pride ourselves on career planning which helps every student meet their individual educational goals. This segues into our "Kewaskum Difference" which is to provide opportunities for all our students to compete in a global society while providing a small town feel and giving personal attention to all. We show this by partnering with the community on a myriad of different activities and opportunities for our children. This includes the use of our facilities by community based groups, regular district personnel and clergy meetings, and staff members involvement in the Kewaskum Chamber of Commerce and other community events. To advance in this direction, we have established a strategic plan for the 2015-16 school year. The plan has three overarching goals. The first goal is focused on facilities and operations studies. Of the five schools that make up our district the most recent building project was the completion of the Kewaskum Elementary school in 1999. This school year we will concentrate on the middle school and high school buildings. We have put together a long range planning committee which includes an architectural firm, a construction manager, and district personnel coupling with 20-30 community members to study our secondary facility and grounds needs. The first meeting of the committee took place on September 22. Our second goal is to attract and retain high quality teaching staff. Our efforts will be concentrated on a new compensation model which rewards teachers for going "above and beyond" the high expectations we already have for our teachers. We look forward to being able to reward those teachers that have shown a high commitment to making Kewaskum a great place for students to learn. Our third and most important goal is to improve student learning. We must always be mindful that this is the reason we exist. Professional development and teacher training during the summer and over the school year will focus on improving student achievement. Also, teachers are educating the whole child by instilling effective work habits in students. We strive to reach our goal of 100% of our students being college and career ready upon their graduation from KHS. Please visit more pages on our website to learn more. You will find a video which summarizes what our schools have to offer. You will also see a slide show which is a review of our accomplishments during the 2014-15 school year. Please feel free to reach out to any leadership team member with questions as we are always willing to listen, learn, share, and build as we move forward.
