Kazakhstan International School
KIS was founded in 1999 and we have been busy growing, developing, and learning since then. KIS is one of only two international schools in Almaty authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) preschool through grade 5. KIS is a candidate MYP school for Grades 6-8. Currently, KIS offers programs for preschoolers (2 and 3 year olds), kindergarten (4 year olds) and reception (5 year olds) at our KIS Early Years Campus at Edelweiss. KIS provides early childhood and primary education, and we do it better than anyone else. At KIS, every child is supported in their learning and growing-academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. We work as a team with parents and students to offer the very best opportunities for every child, intending to develop each student holistically. Our approach is quite simple-students first. By carefully assessing student development, planning with individuals in mind, and differentiating learning opportunities, we are able to meet our students' varying needs. Within the framework of the IB PYP, a world-renown program of inquiry, KIS students have opportunities to pursue areas of interest well-suited for his or her personality and style of learning. But at KIS, we know how crucial it is for students to construct a solid foundation - not only on well-built academic progress - but also in each child's development of strong values and resilient life skills. In other words, at KIS we believe that learning happens for a lifetime and it's about more than academics. The KIS campus is situated away from the busy downtown Almaty area - quietly set back from busy streets within a quiet neighborhood. Our facilities feature a newly updated library and resources, and Smartboard technology in KIS classrooms.
