Great Plains Christian Radio

Shortly after KJIL made its first impact in the region the GPCR board saw the need for a second full power station. Application was made for what would become KHYM. Five years after KJIL took to the airwaves a construction permit was issued for KHYM and broadcasting commenced on December 23rd 1997. In God's faithfulness the debt for KJIL was completely taken care of prior to KHYM's debut. KHYM initially branched out with four translators located in Ulysses and Elkhart, Kansas as well as Guymon and Woodward, OK and has since expanded with more than a dozen signals. By December 15th, 1999 Great Plains Christian Radio would expand once more due to an agreement to operate KJOV 90.7 FM in Woodward, OK. The station's power was increased from 4,500 watts to 25,000 watts and provides substantial coverage for Northwest Oklahoma as a repeater for KJIL's daily broadcast. In March of 2001 Great Plains Christian Radio assumed the reigns of KDMM in Herrington, KS. The call letters were changed to KJRL and began offering Christian programming at 105.7 to the communities of Salina, Junction City, Abilene, Newton, Hillsboro, McPherson, Emporia, Hutchinson, Manhattan and other surrounding communities. In 2007 new translators were added to the KHYM family in the communities of Shadduck and Lavern, Oklahoma as well as Larned, KS. In 2008, a station was added in Fairview, OK. In 2009 KJIL put a new full power station on in Boise City, OK and KHYM added a new translator in Felt, OK. In 2010, KJIL will add a new station in Guymon, Oklahoma and KHYM will move frequencies in Guymon as the network continues to expand. A new station was added in Scott City, KS at the end of 2010. In 2012 KJIL added a full power signal in Manhattan, Kansas. KHYM received a translator signal in Enid, OK.
