Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel has made a long-term commitment to incorporate sustainability into its business operations through an established Environment Management System. Certified ISO 14001 since December 1997, it was also the first hotel in the Southern Hemisphere to be awarded this certification. With the hotel's ongoing efforts to preserve the environment and with environmental decisions as part of the hotel culture through everyday measures, it achieved the Green Globe certification in Year 1999. Applying for the National Quality Award was to ensure ourselves that we were on the right track with respect to our Vision " To be recognized as a world-class hotel by all our stakeholders through a total quality philosophy ". Eventually, from the recognition being conferred upon Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in December 2003, winner of the National Quality Award in the service category for enterprises of less than 500 employees, we do believe that we are working together to be the best. The hotel was also awarded the NQA Best Practice Award in the category of Leadership and Information and Analysis. The main concern being anticipating guests' needs and ultimately retaining guests, the hotel refined its Quality Management System and effectively attained the ISO 9001 certification, thereby setting a clear direction for continuous improvement and to bring into line actions at all operational levels. Winning the Premier Excellence Award-National Quality Award in October 2006 was an acknowledgment that Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel is an exemplary performer in the pursuit of excellence. In May 2007, a new accolade came to reiterate the Labourdonnais's quest to achieve the highest possible standards in sustainable ways: the ISO 22000 certification, the absolute reference in terms of food safety and hygiene, recommended for the minimisation of physical, chemical and microbiological hazards. Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel also acquired numerous other awards in different competition at local and international level and recently the hotel has been officially announced as a Winner in the category Luxury Business Hotel for the 2008 World Luxury Hotel Awards, whereby top Luxury Hotels and Resorts from 30 countries participated in the prestigious event.
