The Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance (LCIA), founded in 1989, is an organization consisting of these same chemical companies and 500 suppliers, contractors and vendors. LCA plants directly employ over 24,000 Louisiana citizens, and LCIA members employ tens of thousands more. The impact on Louisiana's economy is unquestioned. The industry is the state's largest single employer in the manufacturing sector and contributes hundreds of millions of dollars to state and local coffers.
