Leah's Pantry

Leah's Pantry teaches low-income children, adults, and seniors throughout the Bay Area and San Diego to develop cooking skills and to increase their consumption of fresh, whole foods. We are committed to establishing healthy eating habits to promote wellness, self-sufficiency, and to prevent chronic disease. Over 4,000 Californians have graduated from our Food Smarts Workshops, taught in four languages, through partnerships with over 200 community housing sites, schools, and other service agencies. We are hiring a facilitator in CALISTOGA for a children's workshop series. It will begin Wednesday, June 19th and continue for eight weeks. Class will be held once per week from 3:30-5:00PM. Our curriculum includes cooking and nutrition/healthy lifestyle activities. Facilitators will be trained to use our curriculum, and we will provide all the materials. The facilitator will need to be friendly and personable, and ideally will have experience working with a low-income and ethnically diverse population. The facilitator must have demonstrated experience working with groups. A background in education, cooking, or nutrition is required. Each week facilitators are required to plan for class, shop for food (using a prepaid gift card), and post a summary to our online community. Pay is $60 per class, or $480 for the 8-week series. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.565 per mile. Facilitators are paid as employees of Leah's Pantry, not as subcontractors. Apply online at www.leahspantrysf.org/jobs.
