Landbrug & Fødevarer
The Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) is a professional trade organisation whose purpose is to represent the interests of its farmer and food company members. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council represents the farming and food industries of Denmark, the country's largest industry and innovation sector, employing some 150,000 people and exporting agricultural products to an annual value of DKK 100 billion. The Executive Board comprises Carl Aage Dahl as CEO and two Executive Directors, Claus Søgaard Richter and Michael Stevns. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council is governed by two boards: a Primary Sector Board and a Company Board. The two boards are closely connected through a Common Board responsible for agreeing regulations, budgets, financial accounts and overall strategy. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council also has a separate Chairmanship which co-ordinates policies and activities within the organisation and ensures a coherent approach towards both commercial and agricultural issues. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council promotes the political influence of farmers and food companies and offers members a range of efficient and cost-effective services. As the Danish Agriculture & Food Council only has a remit to safeguard the interests of its farming and food members, it is able to give a strong focus to its political activities. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council represents the entire supply chain from farm to dinner table. The Danish Agriculture & Food Council was established by a merger of the Danish Agricultural Council, the Danish Bacon and Meat Council, Danish Pig Production, Danish Agriculture with the Danish Agricultural Media and the Danish Agricultural Advisory Service, but also took on key elements of the Danish Dairy Board's activities.
