Morris and the love of his life Josie Spielman, sharing an appreciation for half-sour pickles, opened Spielmans Delicatessen together in New York City. But Morris tragically died that same year. Josie worried she had no business running a deli and considered closing it. She felt lucky to have experienced a fairytale love with Morris, and wanted to create a space for others to find love as well. She opened up a secret speakeasy hidden within the deli and called it The Lox Club. As the password to get in, members would place an order for pickles. For the next 3 decades, The Lox Club became a gathering place for the Jewish elite: celebrities, politicians, businessmen, mobsters, etc. Non-Jews such as Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe were frequent guests. In 1953, The Lox Club was shut down by the police, never to be seen againuntil now. Lox Club is a private, membership-based dating app for Jews with ridiculously high standards. The idea started as a half-joke after going through a breakup and hating the existing dating apps. Our goal is to help down-to-earth and ambitious people with ridiculously high standards meet each other. Because it sucks to waste time looking for them on other dating apps. Since dating apps tend to be cringe, we weave in some magic with storytelling and mystery (see @loxclub ) to create a fun secret speakeasy experience. The app is designed to feel like a speakeasy hidden within an old school deli. The app is just the tip of the iceberg. We have big dreams to create more experiences for this community. Both digital and in real life. We value authentic, well-rounded people. Those with ambitious dreams and careers, who can make you both think and laugh. We dont care about your instagram following.
