Faith Mission

Faith Mission is the only Community Kitchen in Franklin County able to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the year. We serve about 750 meals a day and are thankful for the donated goods that allow us to operate on a minimal budget. Thanks to a Walmart Foundation gift of $50,000, Faith Mission's new "Healthy Hunger Relief" project is providing healthier meals and nutrition education to people who eat at a Faith Mission kitchen. Nearly all who depend on Faith Mission for meals are at high risk for diabetes, heart disease and other diet-sensitive conditions. Now fruit is offered at each meal plus vegetables at lunch and dinner. Lean meat, poultry and fish appear more often. Nursing students counsel diners about nutrition, huge bulletin boards display healthy eating info and Faith Mission's cooks are receiving additional training to plan and prepare healthier meals. Faith Mission's kitchen relies almost entirely on food donations.
