University of Latvia
The House of Nature is already in operation, after a few months, the House of Science will open its doors, while the selection of architects and builders for the House of Letters continues, plans are drawn for the future buildings, living space for students and scientists. The UL Academic Centre is the largest project of the European Fund for Strategic Investment in Latvia, the only one in the Baltic states where EFSI invests in development of a university. The UL Academic Centre is the road into future, created by ourselves at present. The UL Academic Centre will bring together brilliant minds from Latvia and other countries, providing the environment where talent, entrepreneurship and collaboration flourish, the road leading Latvian science into the world. Since 2016, researchers working in the new laboratories have published as many articles in the world's leading scientific journal "Nature" as throughout the entire previous history of Latvia. Moreover, the first authors of two articles are researchers at the University of Latvia. The previous publication in "Nature" with the first author from Latvia was released in 1929. The UL Academic Centre is the road leading toward our new state, Latvia, not among the runners-up but one of the leaders, transforming the ideas of scientists into the solutions for improving the quality of life and large data management, already at the top of the future wave of technological and economic development, returning to Riga its title of innovation leader among the Baltic Sea countries, that was surrendered 100 years ago.
