The company is a major supplier of normal animal sera, primarily mouse serum,to the manufacturers of medical diagnostic, pharmaceutical, and veterinary products. Stellar developed a proprietary technology that enables us to produce high quality mouse serum that is consistent from lot to lot and that does not contain extraneous viruses or antibodies to human globulins. We also discovered an innovative method for producing large volumes of mouse antibodies from small amounts of antigen, thus enabling the researcher to evaluate a number of possible antibody applications before committing to a system requiring large amounts of valuable antigen material. Stellar performs its operations for the production of normal animal sera exclusively in our state-of-the-art animal facility in Columbia, Maryland. We use only domestic animals from approved U.S. breeders to produce our products. In 1989, we expanded our operations and facilities to include the manufacturing and distribution of immunodiagnostic products for the detection of human infectious diseases and autoimmune conditions. Stellar distributes worldwide a variety of diagnostic and research kits and reagents for use in Indirect Fluorescence Assays (IFA). Stellar also provides custom services including monoclonal and polyclonal antibody development, production, and purification, antigen propagation and purification, and small animal husbandry. Today, Stellar Bio Systems' staff has well over 100 years of combined experience in developing novel methods for improving performance in a variety of in vivo and in vitro systems.
