Maduro Shipping
The company was established by Salomon Elias Levy Maduro in 1837. He started his own ship’s agency and bunkering services company in the port of Curaçao. The primary income then came from supplying the earliest steamships with coal when they called the port. In those days coal was hand carried on board in sacks. During the years that followed his sons entered into the business and as S.E.L. Maduro & Sons it evolved into a conglomerate of innovative companies involved with shipping, transportation, travel and tourist industry. As in Curaçao, S.E.L. Maduro & Sons also established offices in Aruba and the other islands of the Netherlands Antilles, Bonaire and St. Maarten. Companies remained focused on the development of services related to the shipping and transportation. In this manner they have grown an international transportation network and became leading companies in their respective areas. Today the various interests are all concentrated in the holding structure of the Maduro Group NV and it is one of the leading companies in Dutch Antilles with interests in real estate holdings, travel/leisure activities and a variety of services to the shipping and transportation industry.
