Magavern Magavern Grimm LLP has been engaged in the practice of law in Western New York since Henry White and Thomas Sherwood opened their practice in Buffalo in 1826. Three generations of the Elijah Ford family carried the Buffalo law firm from the late 1820's until early in the 20th century. Three generations of the Magavern family have practiced with the firm including William J. Magavern, admitted to the bar in 1893, Samuel D. Magavern, admitted in 1930, James L. Magavern, admitted in 1959, and William J. Magavern, II, admitted in 1962. Richard A. Grimm, Sr. commenced legal practice in 1921, followed by his sons, Robert W. Grimm in 1947 and Richard A. Grimm, Jr. in 1959, launching three generations of Grimms in the Western New York legal community. The Grimm firm joined with the Magavern firm in 1994.
