Maine Neurology was established in 1988 and has grown to become the largest neurological practice in southern Maine. All providers have special qualifications in various areas of neurology. Maine Neurology physicians are supported by adult and pediatric nurse practitioners. Specially trained neurology technicians provide EEG, ENG and ultrasound services in the convenience of an office setting. Practice physicians maintain an educational and professional relationship with the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Medical students and residents-in-training at Maine Medical Center are mentored by practice physicians in the hospital and in the office. Maine Neurology treats patients within the full range of neurological diseases. Practice physicians provide state of-the-art care. Specialty care is provided through "sub-specialty" programs including evaluation and treatment of multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and dementia, spasticity, and other movement disorders. Maine Neurology physicians and nurse practitioners provide neurological care at the Stroke Unit of the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland.
