The Mainport Group
Under the stewardship of the Ronayne family the Mainport Group trades in South America, the Middle East, Africa, Malaysia and the European Union. The fleet consists of 10 vessels, including Tugs, Platform Supply vessels, and Seismic Support and Chase vessels. Mainport currently employs 200 people covering its shipping, stevedoring, agency operations and worldwide crew. The origin of the Mainport Group goes back to 1957 when Finbarr Ronayne founded Ronayne Shipping Limited. This company merged and acquired other shipping companies over the years and over time the "Mainport" brand was established. In 1988 the Ronayne family finalised a friendly MBO buying out Clyde Shipping plc. Clyde was the main shareholder at that time.
