Malaspina Choir
Malaspina Choir is a 100-member community choir located in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Originally founded in 1970, the choir has been bringing together musicians and music lovers from all walks of life for more than three decades. The choir frequently performs in the Port Theatre, as well as in smaller venues such as Saint Andrews United Church. Our repertoire varies widely, and has included Classical, Jazz, Motown, Gospel, Broadway, and Folk music. In recent years we have performed Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Handel's Messiah; we have co-produced concerts with the Vancouver Island Symphony, the Malaspina College Singers, Frank Mills, Gary Fjelgaard, and Valdi. We have also hosted concerts by renowned choirs from other parts of Canada and around the world. Malaspina Choir has been conducted by Wade Noble since September 2002. Rie Okamura has joined usfor the 2007-2008 season as accompanist. Interested in joining us? Please visit the Information for Members page.
