Manchester Evening News
For more than 150 years we have told the stories of the people of what is now known as Greater Manchester, the most important regional city in the UK. For all of these years we have told these stories via the printed word and through photographs. More recently we have also told them through digital means, including video and audio. Regardless of the means of publication, we have always been committed to reporting the news accurately, fairly and vigorously, holding those in authority to account and campaigning on behalf of the needs and interests of the people of the region. We are not aligned to any political party, we are supporters of the people of Greater Manchester. Following the recent tragic events in Manchester we have campaigned to help make our city a more peaceful place, launching the We Stand Together campaign to fight hate crime and to persuade our educational chiefs to include peace studies on the curriculum of every primary and secondary school in Greater Manchester. Following the bomb attack in May we worked with our readers to raise £2.5m to help those affected. We are also campaigning to help raise funds for Broughton House, a home for veterans in Salford, to improve facilities for ex-service personnel from across the region. The Manchester Evening News, often known as the M.E.N. has always sought to entertain its readers as well as inform them. We lead the way in coverage of our city's vibrant cultural and suggest to our readers the best way to enjoy their leisure time. We report extensively and in unrivalled depth on our two world-famous football clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City, coverage which is enjoyed by readers locally and around the world. After a long history of the M.E.N. in print, we have been proud of the rapid growth of our online operation in recent years. Reporters and writers from print and online work closely together to ensure the very best of our journalism is available to readers however they reach us. We also work closely with colleagues at sister Reach PLC titles across Britain and Ireland. We are delighted to be a launch partner of The Trust Project as we endeavour to make it simpler for readers of all ages and from all around the world to discover more about who we are and what we believe in.
