Martin Door Manufacturing

Martin Garage Doors is now offering a darker, more secure, acrylic window option. The new smoked window option is darker than the company has ever offered and it limits the possibility of being able to see into the garage from the outside, according to Robert Scott, director of Engineering for Martin. Scott said Martin Garage Doors has offered a smoked window option for more than 20 years, but noted recent trends towards larger window sections----especially on carriage house and Athena doors---required a darker acrylic, to enhance a homeowner's privacy. The darker window option was already available in tempered glass, Scott said. At least one dealer could see the difference with his first installation of the darker acrylic option. Jack McIntyre of Garage Doors Unlimited in California recently installed an Athena Door with the smoked acrylic and said he could not see his ladder from the outside looking in. However, the new option still allows some visibility from the inside out, in sunny conditions. The acrylic on this Athena Door is so dark that you can't see a ladder directly behind the door on the inside. Martin Door is offering a darker smoked acrylic option on all of its doors. The darker option offers greater security and privacy for the homeowner.
