Matamata Saddlery has been an iconic part of the equine industry for decades. The addition of the Bucas brand of synthetic covers makes Matamata Saddlery your one-stop shop for everything about covers. In 2016 Matamata Saddlery entered the care of Peter and Debbie Gates. Peter has been a leader in the optical industry, making his mark with the "Gates Opticians" stores , two of which still operate under his name in Newmarket and Hamilton. Debbie, who has strong links to the racing industry though her brothers Paul and Lance O'Sullivan, trained and worked as a vet before joining the business late 2018. Peter has brought everything that he knows about form, function, design and aesthetics from optics to his new role as a designer and manufacturer of horse covers and equipment. The result has been the advent of the next generation of canvas covers as he has challenged the "norm" on every front to create beautiful covers that are safer and easier to use, more durable and reliable, and manufactured to the highest standards. The team goal at Matamata Saddlery is to continue to look outside the square and bring innovative and practical solutions to the equine industry.
