Matera

Matera was founded in January 2009. The company is a pioneer in the development of materials and surfaces with antimicrobial properties for biomedical, environmental and industrial applications. The patented coatings can be used in devices or general surfaces in order to prevent or mitigate their colonization by microorganisms. The company current focus is the development of antimicrobial coatings for industrial applications in materials such as wood, metals, rubber and textiles. Matera has partnerships with international companies and scientific collaborations with the Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra. Matera is located at Biocant Park in Cantanhede, the largest biotech hub in Portugal.
