Maymont

Maymont today is one of the most popular attractions in Richmond, Virginia welcoming more than 500,000 guests each year. As a National Register Historic Place and Virginia Historic Landmark, it stands as a remarkably intact, well preserved example of the lavish dwellings of the Gilded Age, the most complete expression of this distinctive era preserved and open to the public in Virginia. In addition to the Gilded Age mansion, historical estate buildings, and Dooley-era gardens and arboretum, the 100-acre property now includes native Virginia wildlife exhibits, a Nature & Visitor Center with animals and exhibits related to the James River, a Children's Farm, and specialty gardens. It serves the community as a historical and environmental education resource, and special events and programs are offered throughout the year.
