MCL (Civil Engineering Contractors) Limited is a privately owned, family run business with over 43 years experience in the fields in which it specialises. Mike Williams formed the company in 1970. Operating as a landscaping contractor offering services to both the private and industrial sectors. During the first couple of years the company expanded into both Civil Engineering and plant hire. In 1975 the company was engaged by Short Brothers Limited to facilitate in many large-scale contracts. In 1980 MCL Ltd were contracted to carry out maintenance works on Short Brothers Limited workshops and offices throughout South Wales. MCL ltd was also contracted by the company to manage works in the scrap stocks and the scrap yard area's of the steel works in Port Talbot. Due to the proficiency of operations carried out at Port Talbot, in 1998 the company was contracted to manage the scrap yard at British Steel Plc, Llanwern works. Management of the Thermal Lancing operations at both plants together with British Steel Plc, Trostre works Llanelli, and Celsa Plant at Cardiff. During all of these periods MCL were also engaged in many varied civil engineering projects at British Steel Plc, Port Talbot, Llanwern, Trostre and Cardiff sites. MCL have also undertaken a number of projects for the Environment Agency throughout South Wales, constructing fish easement passes to enable spawning salmon to reach their breeding grounds. Our work in the private sector is continually growing with work in the small plant hire, landscaping and fencing business. The company policy is one continuously monitoring our customer's requirements and maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship. With the help of our skilled and highly experienced management and workforce, we have built a reputation for completing projects to a high standard and to strict deadlines.
