Spartanburg Medical Research
Spartanburg Medical Research (SMR) has been conducting clinical research trials since 1990. Initial studies focused on antibiotics. Subsequent studies focused on respiratory medications. Over the last few years SMR has extended beyond respiratory to include studies focused on diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidemia, migraine, memory loss, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. SMR is located on a 2.6 acre wooded campus fronting Business I-85 opposite Spartanburg Technical College. SMR in convenient to regional airports: 20 minutes from Greenville Spartanburg and 70 minutes from Charlotte. Both Spartanburg Regional and Mary Black Hospitals as well as several hotels and restaurants are within a few minutes drive. SMR's staff includes over 20 researchers dedicated to providing quality care and meeting or exceeding GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and FDA standards: we take pride in having undergone 4 FDA audits with no deficiencies or findings noted. We are privileged to have been selected for membership in OsNET, a nonprofit Clinical Research Alliance of over 20 elite research centers located throughout the United States. Our staff feels fortunate to have participated in over 300 clinical trials. In the process, SMR's investigators have received national recognition for their quality work and have been selected for inclusion by such organizations as "Top Doctors", "Best Doctors", and Marquis' "Who's Who in Health Care". Our research results have been reported at national and international meetings and published in peer reviewed journals. However, the real credit should go the dedicated patients who have volunteered their time and effort on our studies and ask to volunteer afain for future studies.
