Mensa of Jacksonville is the local chapter of American Mensa, Ltd. It is a non-profit society for those who have a proven IQ in the top 2% of the population. It was founded in 1979 and has approximately 300 members. Mensa of Jacksonville geographically includes Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Middleburg, Orange Park, Fruit Cove, and Saint Augustine, etc. Click on the Florida map for an expanded view. Therefore, the name Mensa is reminiscent of mind, table, month, which suggests a monthly meeting of great minds around a table. Mensa has three goals: To identify and foster human intelligence. To encourage research into the nature, characteristics, and uses of intelligence. To provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members. We provide a stimulating environment for our members. This consists of monthly meetings, monthly magazines, monthly local newsletters, parties, dinners, field trips, regional and national gatherings, internet-based discussions, and special interest groups. These various forums produce an intellectual discourse and camaraderie that cannot be found anywhere else.
