Merryhatton Garden Centre - Edinburgh & East Lothian

When I came to Merryhatton in January 1997 my aim was to offer quality products at fair prices, to create an East Lothian garden centre that our customers would enjoy visiting and where our staff would enjoy working. There have been many changes over these 17 years as we have developed from the old greenhouses and tunnels of 1997 to the modern purpose-built building we are in now. We're now able to offer customers considerably better facilities which are much more accessible for customers with prams or mobility difficulties, we have an even wider selection of products - both indoors and outdoors - and of course we have a lovely café where customers can meet, chat and enjoy our home-cooked food. Importantly however, the fundamental principles on which we developed the business remain the same. Our reputation has been built on offering quality products at fair prices and that remains at the core of everything we do. And we are agarden centre - we offer the rounded selection of products that people expect of a garden centre, but our roots are firmly based in gardening. Customer satisfaction is essential and it's my belief that if we want to achieve it, we must listen to our customers. Customers' ideas have played a big part in making Merryhatton what it is today, and I hope they will continue to help us shape our future. And crucially, to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, our staff must enjoy working here. I've been fortunate in having first-class people working with me at Merryhatton, and it is their hard work, and the knowledge and advice they offer that has earned us such terrific loyalty and support from our customers over the last 17 years.
