Meteor manufactures highly specialized rubber and elastomer seals and sealing systems used inter alia in vehicles, trains and aircrafts, in buildings and in electrical and household appliances were they provide safety, functionality and convenience. Hence, the companys customers range from automotive manufacturers and suppliers to technical engineering firms in the environmental technology, special vehicle construction, construction and civil engineering and packaging and electronics industry. In 2011, Meteor generated annual revenues of EUR 221 million. Its former subsidiary Meteor Weigelt GmbH & Co. KG with headquarters in Bietigheim-Bissingen had also filed for insolvency at the district court of Hildesheim at the end of January 2012. These proceedings also commenced on 1 April 2012 and the attorney Christopher Seagon was appointed insolvency administrator. The company had about 100 employees and manufactures injection moulding parts for the automotive industry. In November 2012, the assets of this company were sold to the strategic investor AGOR GmbH with headquarters in Hrselgau.
