MIDROC Foundation Specialist has been established in Ethiopia since June 1998 as specialized foundation contractor "Class I" in Ethiopia under the name of Bauer - Midroc Foundation Specialist PLC. The company at this early stage had been formed at equal shares from MIDROC Construction and BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH in Germany. Since December 2005, we had a change in shareholding in our company, which consequently lead also to a change of name to Midroc Foundation Specialist PLC, but with remaining BAUER - Equipment, personnel & know how of Foundation Technology within our new company as the same as before. With still unchanged Technology Owner of MIDROC Foundation Specialist Pvt. Ltd. Co. has been actively involved in the art of piling, constantly researching, developing and perfecting methods and equipment. As a result of this continued program, we have been able to offer technically sound and economic piles throughout the world. Because of the wider use and adaptability of bored piles, most of the company's effort has been concentrated in this direction. We have successfully accomplished several major foundation projects in East Africa, including several Soil Exploration Projects. In addition, we have performed drillings in mixed soil with full core recovery down to 100 meter depth in Addis Ababa including soil investigation. We had activities by end of the year 2000 into Djibouti and Kenya, were we have accomplished successfully the performance of "Foundation Works" on the OLKARIA II - Geothermal Power Plant Project as well as one large office building foundation in Nairobi. We had activities further into Tanzania were we have already successfully completed one very large foundation contract for bridge construction on the Road Project from Tanga to Horehoro in the north of Tanzania. We have also performed Foundation Piles along the shore of the Songo-Songo Island from a barge for offshore pipeline foundations. The construction of shoring piles becomes compulsory in Addis Ababa for the purpose of effective land usage. Some of the projects involving shoring piles are Awash Bank and Insurance building complex, KK-building complex, Dashen Bank building complex, Maritime building complex, ODA building complex, etc. In addition Midroc Foundation starts to work as a main contractor in bridge construction and foundation construction. The typical example as working the main contractor in bridge foundation is the special bridge under construction at Omorate, Ethiopia.
