Located in Monaghan, the Combilift Company was formed in 1998 by highly experienced engineers Martin McVicar and Robert Moffett, both from Monaghan. Combilift now occupies a 120,000 Sq Ft production site at its global head quarters in Milltown Monaghan with 230 employees. Combilift's business is very much design and assemble of forklift trucks, we also create some indirect employment with many subcontractors in the Monaghan area who supply machined steel components and fabricated sub-assemblies. In fourteen years Combilift has grown to be the global leader in the long-load handling market and narrow aisle storage solutions. Combilift products can be found in over 60 markets worldwide and Combilift celebrated the delivery of its 15,000th truck in the summer of 2011. Combilift has a revenue turnover of €80 million over the last year of which 9% is invested in R&D. Monaghan is a great location to serve export markets being located between Belfast and Dublin airport allows our visitors to easily travel to Monaghan and vice versa within 1 hour and 15 minutes. We are also located between 2 ports which offers additional shipping/sailing times into Europe and transatlantic ports. The 'can do' attitude of Monaghan people and surrounding countries is second to none. For an engineering company such as ourselves Monaghan people have a great mechanical aptitude coming from a back bone of small farms familiar with agricultural machinery. Many of our employees are part time farmers working in Combilift during the week and on the farm in the evening and at weekends. Monaghan's broadband infrastructure with access to Project Kelvin also enables faster broadband connections to North America and Europe. Combilift has won many awards for design and Innovation including the Forklift Truck Association (FLTA) Awards for Excellence "Victor Ludorum" prize, as the ultimate winner of winners in the awards' 18 year history. Combilift won the DHL exporter of the year and in 2008 Combilift won Irish Exporter of the Year. Martin McVicar received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001.
