Mount Pearl

In 1829, Governor Sir Thomas Cochrane granted James Pearl 1000 acres of land in Newfoundland, Canada, in recognition of his distinguished career in the Royal Navy. The property has grown into the city of Mount Pearl, part of the St. John's metropolitan area and is considered the 20th largest metropolitan area in Canada.
